Our Facility

100,000 square feet under roof and overhead crane, on more than 11 acres in north Tulsa.

Why a bending shop sits in north Tulsa

Location is a cost line on a bending job, not a detail. Large bends are heavy, awkward and expensive to move, so where the shop sits decides who can afford to use it. The Dawson Road plant is close to the middle of the United States, which puts the Gulf Coast, the Midwest and the Rockies within reasonable trucking distance of the same floor.

It is also less than 15 miles from the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, the furthest inland international port in the country. A finished bend can leave here by barge on the McClellan-Kern Arkansas River Navigation System, reach the Mississippi, and go out through New Orleans without ever being craned onto a truck for the long leg. That route is how work gets to all seven continents from landlocked Oklahoma.

Tulsa International Airport is 5 miles away, and interstates 44 and 244 and US-75 are all close, which matters when an inspector or an owner’s representative needs to witness a bend at short notice.

What is on the floor

The plant covers 100,000 square feet under roof and overhead crane on more than 11 acres of yard. That yard matters as much as the roof: 40 and 60 foot sections need somewhere to be laid down, staged and loaded without blocking the bay.

Cranes run with 20 feet of under-hook clearance, which is what lets a large-radius bend be turned and set down in one building. Saws cut up to 24 inch I.P.S. In-plant stress relieving means heat treatment happens here rather than at a third party, and that removes a shipping leg, a handling risk and usually several days from a schedule.

The equipment that decides what we can quote

The Cojafex electric heat induction bender is the machine that sets the ceiling. It bends up through 42″ outside diameter and 4″ wall thickness under computer control, in any radius, angle or plane the drawing calls for. Machines at that size are rare in the United States and they are the reason buyers call Tulsa from the Gulf Coast.

Alongside it, fourteen cold bending machines cover the smaller and higher-volume end: rotary draw bending around machined, case-hardened dies with ball mandrels, wiper shoes and booster equipment where the wall and radius need them. Coiling runs cold up through 10 inch pipe, in helical, spiral wound and serpentine configurations.

That spread is deliberate. A piping package rarely contains one size, and splitting it between a large-bore shop and a small-bore shop means two quotes, two schedules and two sets of paperwork.

Why in-house matters more than it sounds

Cutting, bending, stress relieving and non-destructive testing are four separate trades, and most shops do one or two of them and subcontract the rest. Every subcontract is a transport leg, a lift at each end, a purchase order and a handoff between two companies who each assume the other checked something.

On a heavy section those are not small costs. A 30 inch bend that goes out to be stress relieved is craned onto a trailer, moved, craned off, processed, and then the same three operations happen in reverse. That is several days and two chances to damage a machined bevel, for a heat cycle that takes hours.

Keeping all four here is the single biggest reason a delivery date from this shop is worth something. It is also why a finding is cheap: a rejectable indication found on this floor while the part is still here is a conversation, and the same indication found at a fabricator two states away is a schedule problem for everybody.
