The short answer

Why Choose American Pipe Bending

Four things that are true here and are not true of most bending shops.

Capacity most shops do not have

The induction bender goes to 42″ outside diameter and 4″ wall. Very few places in the United States bend at the top of that range, and the reason is that it is a building and a set of equipment rather than a tool purchase. A 42 inch heavy-wall section weighs several tons before it is bent, and the machine, the crane and the yard all have to be sized for it.

For a buyer that translates into something simple: on large-bore work the list of places that can help is short, and getting shorter as older equipment retires.

Three processes on one floor

Induction bending, coiling and cold bending all run here. A piping package rarely contains one size, and splitting it between a large-bore shop and a small-bore shop means two quotes, two schedules, two sets of certificates and two companies each assuming the other checked something.

Add in-plant stress relieving and non-destructive testing and a part can leave here finished rather than leave here bent. Each step removed from a schedule is a transport leg and a handoff that cannot go wrong.

Code work, with the paperwork to match

The A.S.M.E. U and S stamps are the difference between a bend a reviewer can accept and a bend that needs its own qualification exercise. American Pipe Bending, Inc. is listed in the National Board Manufacturer and Repair Directory.

Testing runs here to your specification, not to ours: x-ray, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, Brinell hardness, PMI and hydrostatic testing are all available on the same floor as the bend.

A location chosen for moving heavy things

The plant sits 15 miles from the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, the furthest inland international port in the United States. Work that is too large for a highway leaves here by barge, reaches the Mississippi and goes out through the Gulf. That is the mechanism behind the claim that bends from this shop reach all seven continents.

Being central also means the Gulf Coast, the Permian and the Midwest are all within reasonable trucking distance of the same floor, and Tulsa International Airport is 5 miles away when an inspector needs to witness a bend at short notice.

And one thing that is not a differentiator

Plenty of bending shops will tell you they are the biggest, the best or the industry leader. American Pipe Bending’s own older material says some of that too. None of it is checkable, so none of it appears on this site.

What does appear is the part a buyer can verify: 42 inches and 4 inches are measurable, 1987 is a date, the A.S.M.E. stamps are in the National Board’s own directory, and the Google rating and review count were read on a stated day. If something here turns out to be wrong, it is wrong in a way you can point at, which is the only kind of claim worth making.

The same rule applies to the photographs. Every one of them is of work made on this floor. There is no stock photography anywhere on this site.
