Cushing, about 60 miles from the plant, is the delivery point for West Texas Intermediate crude and has called itself the Pipeline Crossroads of the World for a century. The tank farms and the gathering and transmission lines around it are a steady source of large-diameter pipeline work.
Tulsa has its own refining and midstream base, and an aerospace maintenance and manufacturing base that has been here for decades. Those two sit at opposite ends of a bending shop: one buys 36 inch heavy-wall induction bends, the other buys small-diameter alloy tube bent tight.
