What we need to price a bend

Five numbers describe a bend: outside diameter, wall thickness, centerline radius, bend angle and the tangent length on each end. Add the material, the quantity and any code or specification and the job can be quoted.

For a coil, add the coil diameter, the pitch, the number of turns and passes, and where the inlets and outlets have to land. For a section other than round pipe, say which axis is being bent about, because a channel or a wide flange behaves completely differently about its strong axis than about its weak one.

Put the documentation requirements in the enquiry rather than in a later email. Material test reports, non-destructive testing and heat treatment all cost money and time, and retrofitting a documentation package onto a finished bend is slow and sometimes impossible.

Spec your bend in five numbers

The diagrams below show how each measurement is taken. If your drawing already carries them, attach it and skip this.

Tell us the pipe size, wall, material and the bend you need. If you have a drawing or a sketch, attach it and we will come back with a quote and the process we recommend.

Fields marked are required.

Outside diameter, wall, centerline radius, bend angle and tangent lengths are all we need to quote a bend.

PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG or PNG, up to 25 MB. Optional.

We use your information only to respond to your request.

Would rather talk it through? Call (800) 730-2363, Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
